Those fried balls above are called coxinhas, (pronounced co-SHEEN-yas). They are a tasty little treat that originated in Sao Paulo. The filling consists of shredded chicken and cheese.

Forgot to get a picture of the dinner preceding this, but this was the dessert! Doce de leite, a very sweet caramel topping, guava paste (also very sweet, and a bit gritty) and tofu-shaped blocks of cheese, (which tasted bland) so together with the sweet toppings it tasted perfect.
Breakfast
Papaya, pineapple, a banana thing (with a sweet syrup), and the pink stuff, which was like an airy strawberry jello kind of thing. wicked good.

Dessert pizza! This treat had bananas, chocolate, white chocolate, and magic baked into it. It followed a really good dinner consisting of a bunch of tasty pizzas. They eat a lot of pizza here actually it seems like. The freezer has a slot called "pizza box". lol
Mmm..good solid meal here. Went to this place at least twice for lunch actually. There's a salad, various types of beans, lentils, risotto, something resembling manicotti, a corn chowder-like thing, some chicken (frango), and more. Also, a glass of limeade. Sorry its a little hard to distinguish things, I like to just pile it on.
Happy 4th of July!! We got hambuguesas at a place across the street called Ja-Pa. They had a lot of options, including a bacon burger, so it was up to my American standards. They like to put mayonnaise on everything. I was okay with that. The patty was a little thin tho.

French fries were good actually. Not as salty as you'd find in the States. The ketchup was weirddd though, it was like runnier, more like a syrup or something. The napkins were awful! Must be some kind of green thing, they were like tissue paper, and small. They didn't clean anything and just got in the way. Give me one U.S. napkin over a hundred of those any day. Point goes to America.
For lunch we spread out a bit, instead of all clustereffing one place. I got a maki roll with salmon, rice, and mayonnaise (I told you!) that was fried with a crunchy, flaky shell. Delicious. With a Skol, it was 31 reales and worth every centado.
In case you don't know this about me, I like to finish other people's food. This was a handroll that Soleil got which had tuna (atun) with a tasty sauce in it.
The produce is interesting. This banana is tiny, the peppers are huge, and there's all sorts of things I've never seen before or even heard of. Maybe I'll do a follow-up post on supermercado produce if you're lucky.
It kills me that I can't remember the name of this wonderful street food snack I had at the Sabado market. It was two words, first word like bancho, or maybe banto. Anyway it was like bread filled with chili, cheese, sour cream, and like chives. So good!!
More street food! Espetos de frango e linguica! (chicken and linguista on spears). Wicked good. Especially the sausage. The chicken had a thin mustard sauce layering on it.
Funyons? Yup. lol
Some snacks in case I got hungry. Yes if you look close, you'll see those Asian chips are "octopus flavored". Not my best idea.
Last night, we were pretty hungry and we got Chinese food at a takeout place near the hostel. Not really that much different from our Chinese food I've concluded. Except for the fortune cookie being in Portuguese.
